The Imo State Athletics Association was established in 1976, coinciding with the creation of Imo State itself. This formation was part of a broader initiative to develop sports infrastructure and promote athletic activities within the newly formed state. The association has since been instrumental in organizing track and field events, nurturing young talent, and representing Imo State in national competitions.
The establishment of the Imo State Athletics Association in 1976 marked a significant step in promoting athletics and sportsmanship in the region, contributing to the state’s rich sporting heritage.
